Character Name: Gin Ichimaru

Age: Gods who knows since a shinigami can live 100s of years and still look young XD….If anything I’d say he looks like he’s in his late 20s probably early 30s

Background:
Before becoming a captain or even becoming a shinigami, Ichimaru Gin lived in Rukongai most of his childhood wandering around in search of food and shelter. There he met and saved Matsumoto Rangiku and the two became friends. They lived with each other in an abadoned wooden shelter and he helped feed her and protect her. He even goes as far as to give her a birthday. According to Rangiku though he would dissappear often and she wouldn't know where he went. What's more than likely assumed is that he was trying to find a way to enter Seireitei sin order to have a better life. He joined the Academy in Seireitei and was considered a genius for being the first to ever graduate within a year and even became a seated officer in the 5th division. This sparked Aizen’s interest and when he found out that Gin had killed the 3rd seat, he convinced Gin to work under him.

Nine years later Gin, along with Tousen, began helping Aizen with his plans that involved testing hollows and hollowfication. This ended up plaguing the captains and vice captains that later became known as Vizards. Gin took part of this by using Shinsou to attack and kill some of the squad members that were investigating the mysterious dissappearances of shinigami who left only behind their clothing. Him, Aizen and Tousen were then discovered by Shinji who immidiately had suspected Aizen from the start, but during their conversation his transformation began and the second person to discover Aizen appeared, Kisuke Urahara. Gin, Aizen and Tousen managed to escape being susected though when they accused Kisuke and he got sent to the trial in their place and was banashed. It is sometime after this that Aizen became captain of the 5th Division and Gin became Vice Captain. Gin continued to serve under Aizen’s command and one day while testing on hollows, the hollows attacked a group of academy students. Those students included Renji, Izuru, and Momo, and when he and Aizen defeated the hollows to “save” them, they too became unknowingly a part of Aizen’s plan. It was because of this that they were placed in the 5th division when they graduated and when Gin became the Captain of the 3rd Division, Izuru became his Vice Captain.

In the Soul Society arc, Gin plays a bigger part than later when he is in Hueco Mundo. He stops Ichigo and his friends from entering soul society in order to make them have to use the Shiba's canon to break in. He gets in trouble for this and they even held a meeting to question him. When asked, he lies and says that he thought he had killed Ichigo, even though the others knew that he could sense these kinds of things. He then claims that he was careless, but before he could be punished, an alarm sounds enabling him to get away with it. It is at this time when Aizen and Gin try to trick Hitsugaya into believing that Gin is suspicious and that he is threatening to kill Aizen. This exchange served to confuse the others and take away any suspicion of Aizen so that he could move about freely. When Aizen faked his death, Gin was immediately blamed and Momo tried to attack him. This only ended with Izuru protecting Gin in some form of loyalty and going up against his best friend and landing them both in jail. Although Momo and Renji (who was also there) escaped on their own, Gin breaks Izuru out of prison in a way that he intentionally wanted Hitsugaya to know. So when Hitsugaya find Gin in order to kill him, Momo appears and begins to attack Hitsugaya due to a letter meaning to confuse her. Hitsugaya reluctantly hurts her, but quickly places the blame on Gin because he had been smirking the whole time. They fight, but just as Hitsugaya was supposebly going to win, Gin uses Shinsou to attack and almost stabs Hitsugaya but he moves out of the way. Unknowigly though, it keeps going in order to hit Hinamori, but Rangiku stops Gin's attack. Gin, not wanting to hurt his childhood friend retreats with his arm frozen. Then when Hitsugaya and Hinamori enter Central 46, Gin is the one that leads Hinamori to Aizen and watches her get stabbed by him and than watches Hitsugaya share the same fate a few minutes later. They bothe teleported to Soukyoku hill. He hears Aizen tells Ichigo, Renji and Rukia how he did it all and when ordered to kill Rukia, he tries but Byakuya gets in the way. After that he doesn't do anything except when Rangiku takes him hostage but escapes with Aizen to Hueco Mundo along with Tousen and becomes a traitor.

In Hueco Mundo he is assigned as surveillance and causes mischief, but other than that, has seemingly no real purpose at all. He only watches as Ichigo and his friends invade Las Noches and as they try to get Orihime back. The last he is seen before the “Pendelum” arc is when he is traveling to Karakura town to destroy it and it is here where I’m taking Gin.
